Product Description

Stop wasting time and labor hand watering dry spots on the golf course and increase productivity with the Wetting Fork II Water Injected Turf Aerator.

Designed for wetting hydrophobic dry spots on golf courses in just seconds, this turf aeration tool features new and improved stainless steel tines that quickly and efficiently penetrate soil to deliver water, fertilizers, fungicides, insecticides, or wetting agents to turf. It also can be used to deep root water and fertilize trees and shrubs.

The Wetting Fork includes a valve and hose fittings to fit either 3/4" or 1" ID hose. Just attach your garden hose, push the steel tines into the ground, and open the valve. It is that easy to use.

Dry spots appear on golf course turf once the weather starts to warm up. These areas are referred to as "localized dry spots" and are hydrophobic, meaning the soil repels water. Applying the usual amount of irrigation to these localized dry spots will not be enough. One option is using a wetting agent to make the irrigation water "wetter" so the soil is attracted to the water instead of repelling it. Another option, the Wetting Fork II, is much simpler to solve this issue. Connect the Wetting Fork to a hose, insert the tines into the soil, open the valve, and water will be injected in different directions underneath the turf to get the soil wet.

Assembly: Insert the 4 1/2" steel tines into the base. Be careful not to strip the pipe threads. Use Teflon tape or other pipe joint compound. Attach the valve assembly to the handle. Use Teflon tape and be careful not to strip the threads. The Wetting Fork II is now ready to use. You can use the fork with 3/4" or 1" ID hose but it is recommended to use the smaller hose as the unit is easier to handle and you do not need a high volume of water.

How to use:

  1. Place the Wetting Fork into the desired area. Use your foot to carefully and firmly insert the tines into the soil. Standing on the base ensures the tines will fully penetrate. Avoid slamming the tines into the ground. If you should damage or bend a tine, remove it and straighten it in a vise, or replace it.
  2. Slowly open the valve and allow the water to penetrate. This process involves some trial and error until you get a feel for the type of soil you have and how to best apply the water. Avoid applying full pressure which may severely erode the sub soil.
  3. To apply wetting agents, it is recommended to use pellet type systems. Simply attach the system to the unit and apply in the same fashion as discussed above.
